Data and editorial methodology

How North Dakota Education Monitor selects, normalizes, dates, sources, and corrects public education information.

Primary-source first

Directory and enrollment records are normalized from NDDPI workbooks. Local calendars and operational information link to district-controlled websites. Guides use government, statutory, district, institutional, or federal sources.

What normalization means

Source columns are mapped into consistent district records without changing the underlying district identifiers or published values. Blank fields remain blank. Estimates are not substituted for missing values. Source URLs, school year, retrieval hash, and review date are retained.

Review and correction

Build dates are not presented as verification dates. A verification date reflects a source review. When a reader reports an issue, the Editorial Desk compares the page with the controlling source and records a substantive correction through the normal publishing process.
